Biography |
|
Rekaya Gibson is a writer, speaker, consultant and researcher. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, she was pursuing a doctorate in Political Science. Miss Gibson has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of New Orleans and a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Affairs with a concentration in Criminal Justice from Indiana University. Miss Gibson has spent nine years working in the violence prevention and substance abuse prevention fields. Throughout her tenure, she has partnered or collaborated with numerous organizations on various projects such as workshops, special events and writing and assisting with grant proposals. Miss Gibson has obtained over $500,000 in grant funding and provided more than 200 grant resources to colleagues and friends. Furthermore, she has created grant applications and reviewed approximately 100 grant proposals. As an Adjunct Faculty member, Miss Gibson taught “Learning and Working Skills” at a local community college. This enhanced her expertise in conducting workshops on collaboration and anti-violence. In her spare time, Miss Gibson enjoys participating in philanthropic activities and freelance writing. She is a proud native of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Currently, Miss Gibson is happy to call Las Vegas, Nevada her home.
